Saturday Spotlight: Cassie Thomas, LPC, EMDR Certified Therapist

Who I Work With

I specialize in working with teens and young adults—especially female and gender-diverse clients—who are navigating identity, self-worth, and the impact of developmental or complex trauma.

I work primarily with individuals who are navigating:

  • Complex Trauma

  • Developmental Trauma

  • Attachment Trauma

  • Identity Exploration

  • Gender Affirming Care

I have specialized training and am certified in:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP)

  • Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP)

My goal is to facilitate a supportive space and believe that healing is possible for my clients until they are able to do so for themselves.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapeutic approach is best described as:

  • Authentic, collaborative, and layered. My work is deeply rooted in the belief that we all have the capacity to find healing and that each person is the expert on themselves. Simultaneously, I acknowledge that knowing what to ask for can be difficult in the healing process and intentionally like to offer options while preserving my clients’ autonomy in their own journey.

In our work together, I focus on:

  • The stories that you are telling about yourself, others and the world that are driving hypervigilance, armoring (which can cause chronic pain or fatigue) or are otherwise impacting your quality of life.

  • Creating safety in the therapy space with the ultimate goal of that safety translating to your nervous system and expanding into your daily life.

I believe therapy works best when there is collaboration in creating trust and safety, all the while supporting your autonomy.

“Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance." — Brené Brown

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Clients often describe sessions with me as honest, reflective and a balance of support and challenge.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • To be empowered to co-create a space that meets your unique needs. I firmly believe that healing - especially from trauma - has to center your autonomy. I deeply value showing up authentically as myself in a way that empowers my clients to do the same. I will always put you in the driver's seat, and I am more than happy to offer supportive suggestions when you want or need that along your journey.

What I Value Most in the Therapy Space

I deeply value authenticity, autonomy and mutual engagement within our therapeutic work. I believe that healing works best within a collaborative and safe container that we will work together to build. There is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to therapy and I am committed to building a space that is uniquely suited to your needs.

“What I am is good enough if I would only be it openly.” ― Carl R. Rogers

A Little More About Me

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy:

  • Spending time with my family, a warm, sunny day on the lake with my paddleboard, curling up with my pups and reading a good book or engaging in my most recent creative hyperfixation (see also: the embroidery collage on my office wall - a product of my favorite pandemic hobby).

I believe that engaging in fulfilling and supportive relationships and activities outside of work is a vital part of being human that we can easily lose in the ‘hustle and bustle’ of daily life. I prioritize these things myself because I find them to be a vital part of my ability to be attuned within our work together.
